Panic And Anxiety Attacks – Signs And Symptoms
“Out of the blue, I was swept in a wave for fear for no apparent reason with my chest thumping making it hard to breathe. I thought I almost died.”
“I’m really terrified to even attempt going out and even if I did so mustering courage, there is this awful feeling of my stomach churning giving me the jitters of another panic attack coming or something drastic is gonna happen.”
These are the typical examples of an individual going through panic and anxiety attacks.
So what exactly are Panic and Anxiety attacks?
This is another yet another symptom of anxiety disorder posing a serious health hazard. Researches reveal that on an average 20% of adults, or say about 60 million people tend to suffer from panic attacks at some given point in time in their lives. Anxiety and panic attacks in children is also usual nowadays, so you have to learn about the symptoms well to recognize them in your children.
Yet another alarming fact about panic is the symptom being markedly distinct from the other forms of anxiety. They tend to be so very sudden, unforeseen, appear un–called for and too often immobilizing. If an individual experiences a panic attack, for instance, while in a mall amidst a crowd, while driving, while in an elevator, then this leads to illogical fears, known as phobias about the same situations and tries to stay away from them.
Sooner or later, this habit of avoidance and the anxiety level of an impending attack goes to the point where the sheer thought of performing things that triggered the first panic attack sparks off potential panic and anxiety attacks, resulting in panic disorder. This consequentially leads to panic disorder along with agoraphobia. Hence the panic disorder can be classified into two types panic disorder combined with or without agoraphobia.
Let us look into anxiety and panic attacks symptoms:
