Anxiety can be well controlled through the following techniques. First and foremost in dealing with anxiety there needs to be a positive approach to all aspects of life. Let us focus on three main areas that will be addressed in anxiety therapy:

COGNITIVE THERAPY (belief/thinking process)

Cognitive therapy helps us modify our old habits and thinking patterns. Having negative thoughts and anticipating the worst can only end in continuous suffering. Hence we need to season and coach our minds to think and act positively than it did in the past. In other words, if the mind was conditioned to act and think negatively it could be the other way around too – tuned to think positively.

There are a number of techniques and methods involved in anxiety therapy and it is up to the sufferer alone to decide what best suits them. Generally, treatments of anxiety set off with cognitive–behavioral therapy.

Here are few effectively tested techniques:

Slowing down – Talking and walking slowly.

Control habitual negative thoughts.

Making lucid and self–help statements instinctive and permanent.

The willpower to remain alert and gently determined.

It is also imperative to address: Frustration, anger, perfection, setbacks etc.

BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (what we do)

This anxiety therapy is related to the act of putting things into place in day to day life where anxiety and depression play a major role. This aspect of anxiety cognitive therapy is handled post as it requires a solid foundation of emotive strategies and skills that helps us to live and act in different ways prior to coping with real-life challenges.

EMOTIONAL (relaxation)

Relaxation and de–stressing are important aspects of anxiety therapy with peace and calmness being the goal. The basic idea is for the brain to calm down and feel relaxed for the therapeutic information to reach the brain and sink in.

This aspect of anxiety therapy mainly focuses on serenity and calmness. This method is not aimed at directly tackling anxiety. Peace and calmness are the prime focus here because by maintaining composure and bringing about calmness, they tend to flush out the fear and anxiety out bringing about a sense of inner peace. So this branch of therapy for anxiety doesn’t focus on fear or nervousness, but on the inner peace and healing process.
